Testing And Treatment|
Below are some of the tests that we are specially trained to perform. Please inform the physician before undergoing testing or treatment if you have a pacemaker or other implanted stimulator, are on blood thinners, have a bleeding disorder, or any active infections. |
Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
We use nerve conduction studies in order to evaluate the function of the peripheral nervous system. They can be used to diagnose nerve disorders like peripheral neuropathy and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Needle Electromyography (EMG)
Electromyograms are used to measure and record the electrical activity of muscles. An electromyography is performed by inserting a needle electrode through the skin. As this electrode is inserted into and retracted from the skin, it provides information about muscles and nerves which can then be used by the physician to diagnose neurological and neuromuscular disorders.
Epidural Steroid Injections (ESI)
Steroid injections can be used to alleviate pain caused by irritation of the nerves in the spine, such as pain in the lower back and leg, by reducing inflammation.
We sometimes employ Ultrasound as a method of therapy.
Ultrasonic therapy works by focusing high-frequency sound waves in parts of the body to produce heat, destroying diseased tissue.
Laser therapy uses low-level laser light to stimulate cellular function, producing clinical benefits such as faster healing.
Our physician is medically trained in acupuncture. At our clinic, acupuncture is sometimes employed as an alternative, supplemental treatment method.
Physical therapy is an central component of our treatment plans for many of our patients. We use physical therapy in order to assess and expand our patients' movement potential and function. Physical therapy is also effective in treating neck pain, lower back pain, shoulder pain, and more.
